Default Testfire

I recently received a repaired sear bar from Policeluger, the last peace in the puzzle of restoring a quite nice matching byf
I'm very happy with the result and I appreciate the help from Policeluger!

After installing the part, I decided to try the byf along with a shooter Luger.
The byf worked perfectly But the shooter wasn't that reliable.. found out that the used shells from that pistol had a mark on it.

Is it from the extractor?? I would appreciate any thoughts about this.

Btw. I took some video while shooting, but I don't know if it's possible to upload it

Thank you for the kind remarks, it was fun working on a gun sent from so far away. Along with a few guns I've rebuilt from Canada, I can now say I'm international gun smith....as to the "extractor" marking, looks like old ammo and could be the cause along with a perhaps poor fitted extractor...next time out shooting, load one round by hand with say the center of the date dead top center in the chamber, close bolt and fire, examine spent round and see where the mark is....good luck!

Default Mark on Case

Hi:

Your case seems to have an extremely wide extractor groove. In fact, it doesn't seem standard to me at all.

Is the ammo surplus pistol ammo or could it have been designed for machinegun use?

It looks like the case is slamming, rather violently, up against the extractor upon firing, rather than being held in place by it.

During normal extraction, a Luger's extractor will make a little mark halfway up the case as the case exits the pistol upon firing.

You have an interesting little problem.

Try another brand of ammo and see if the problem continues.

Thanks for the advice!
I'm going to try another type of ammo, but I think this ammo is ok.. I got them for free from a military storage. They are quite old, but stored sealed and dry.

My other Lugers makes no mark on the cases. And the extractor looks the same
