Default Grip ID question.

Gentlemen I need some help.

Here's my situation. First, I know nothing of Lugers. I like the way they look but never had the money for one. And this fact exacerbates my problem.

I recently purchased the estate of an avid shooter, collector and big game hunter. The family had sold all the firearms but many of the parts and much of the reloading equipment was left and they wanted it gone, so I bought it for the reloading equipment.

But I've found this set of grips. Asked about them at another site and was told they were for a Luger pistol. Did some searching and can find nothing definitive, except there are lots of fakes being sold as the real deal. I'd like to get what the grips are worth, if it's $45 then fine if it's more that's okay too.

Here they are. I've looked here on the forum and they look exactly like a set of bakelite grips a Spanish speaking gentleman was inquiring about with respect to cleaning his grips. So, can anyone tell me what I've got?

Thanks,

Paul

It is hard to tell by the pictures. I do not see anything that says they are fakes but nothing positive either. Look at the threaded holes and there should be very little brown fibers sticking out. Not much so you may need a glass. Clear close up will help.

check this out.

Thank you Jerry. I'll have a look.

I checked out the thread, lots of information there. Looks like they would either be type 5 or 6.

I've looked with a magnifying glass. There's lots of grime in the holes so I couldn't tell what was what.

One thing I could see were what looked to be fibers on the smooth interior of the panels. Reminded me of how the fibers look on a dollar bill.

I think I need to take more pictures.

I would say that they grips are original. Great fine. A good condition set goes for around $250.

Thanks Jerry. I believe so too but I'm still going to take more pics.

Where should I list them, here?

Also, what would be good to clean them up with. Can I use a little dish soap?

I've taken some additional pics. I took these through my magnifier and against a couple of different backgrounds.
