Now here's a German gun collector! This week the German govt. freaked out and confiscated some old guys Panther tank he'd been keeping in his basement. The local mayor said it wasn't a big deal and in a 1978 blizzard the guy drove around town in it delivering food to the stranded!

He also had a 88mm Flak gun, but I dont know if he uses it for his Meals on Treads program too

Putting everything aside, even German gives it to me for free, I cannot accept it -- nowhere to park it. But Alvin, wait a minute, are you day-dreaming again? Who would give it to you for free? By weight alone, this one worth quite amount of money, let alone it's in this shape. If owner does not want it, cannot he sell it on scrap steel market, who would give it to you for free?? OK, I agree... but even for temporary, I have nowhere to park it...

There is another theory on this, let's see..

Say, one day, I read Yahoo news, there was a report saying there was a billionaire somewhere made yet another, God knows, hmm,, 10 million dollars, for example. After I read this news, do I feel jealous, or feel I should aim towards that direction? No.

Why? It's too far away from my life. So I feel it's irrelevant.

Another day, my friend told me, his wife invested in BABA ticker symbol last month, made $3000. Nowhere close to previous example. In theory, I should not have any interest at all. Big deal? Just $3000, won't change my life. But, deep in my mind, I feel I should find such an opportunity too..

Why? It's close to my life.

There's no treads on that tank. Any word on why they were removed???

It wasn't still running when they took it away....they dragged it out with heavy equipment....you can see the marks....they might have busted the track shoe pins and they came off. And I wouldn't have room for it either....but I'd proudly park it in my front yard and tell the neighbors to bite me.

From what I've read, this was basically a witch hunt, as the tank, the 88 and the torpedo this guy owned were well known and properly de-milled. They went after him for other reasons then decided to confiscate everything in sight.
I hope he gets his stuff back, although it will not be in the same condition in which it was taken.

That Panther G was part of Mr Flick's collection.
They / he broke a component in the drive line the last time they ran it.

The reason the tracks aren't on it is that it's easier to drag a dead tank around
on it's road wheels, besides that steel track would wreck everything.

The tanks was a post war Reme build for analysis in Britain; when they were done with it they scrapped it out and Flick bought and restored it.

It's estimated to be worth between USD 3- 4 million.
