"Luger holsters and accessories of the 20th century" Eugene Bender

Is this book hard to locate, a worthwhile addition to my gun libabry, is there more than just the one edition and what is the current approximate value?

John, Hunt it down and buy a copy. It's a gotta have. Out of print only one edition I am aware of. Google search to find value.

I purchased an autographed copy from a fellow forum person and paid $175.00 - like new. I think I did really good and feel good about it. Hope you do as well. Try e-bay and amazon.com, etc. You might even broach the question on this forum - see if anyone has one to sell.

I've located two books sounding simlilar by the same author.

Are these the same book but one being a later revision or reprint?

"Military Holsters of World War II" Eugene J. Bender

Military Holsters of WW2 is an earlier book. Luger Holsters and Accessories is a much larger more complete book on luger holsters. Both books are excellent and I highly recommend both. Bill

I am being offered both editions so perhaps I will take your advice and buy them both. My house is begining to sink due to the weight but as they say, "you can never have too many books"

This may be heresy to some, but I much prefer the extensive, informative and beautifully color illustrated treatment of Luger holsters in volume 3 of the new Gõrtz/Sturgess book "Pistole Parabellum". Since getting this book I seldom, if ever, refer to Bender. Regards, Norm

Norm, Bender's "Military Holsters of World War II"
covers much more than Luger holsters so it is a necessity for that reason.

"Luger Holsters and Accessories of the 20th Century" covers many accoutrements and so much more. It has been around for decades before volume 3 of the new Gõrtz/Sturgess book "Pistole Parabellum" became available . Having the Gõrtz/Sturgess book "Pistole Parabellum" is a luxury I have not splurged on yet.

Hi Jerry, You owe it to yourself to get the Görtz/Sturgess book. The coverage of accessories is eye opening. How about a Mercedes staff car fitted out with Luger holders? Despite this work's much publicized problems, it's a real treat for Luger lovers. Remember, Christmas is just around the corner. Best regards, Norm
P.S. I agree, the Bender book was groundbreaking in it's day, and I would never part with my copy.

Hang on until next Spring, and the next iteration of the Görtz/Sturgess book should be out. It is Sturgess' "approved" version without the parts he found objectionable and probably will contain some additional information. And I agree, I'm not parting with my Bender either.
