Default question about a brown luger holster

When I purchased my BYF 42 99% luger a brown holster came with it. I have no clue when or what the holster is. It has no markings just 8504 on the back. Can i please have some pointer on it?

Should I rub my crystal ball until I see an image? Or shouild "brown holster" be enough to determine what cow it came from?

I dont know how to post pictures on the site. Theres not much to see its just a classic dark brown luger holster with pull string that has no markings except on the top back in the middle of the belt straps that reads 8504

There are several 'tutorials' on picture posting...Just need to look around a bit...

Here's one - posted by my favorite forum member -

Pics are a must...As for markings, try looking closer, with a magnifying glass...they may be very faint...

Hi Luke, Welcome to the forum! As the others have noted, we can't be much help without photos, the clearer the better. In the mean time, these two illustrations should narrow things down a bit. In the first photo the back of the magazine sleeve is not part of the holster back, it's part of the sleeve. This is how holsters were made in WW1. In WW2 the back of the holster was also the back of the mag sleeve, as in the second photo. Hope this helps, Regards, Norm

From that information it looks as if it is a WW1 holster. Does anyone know what the rough value would be for something like that?

hard to say, lets say $50 and you can sell it to me.

You really have to give us more information. You are asking for something with nothing for us to help you, it could be worth $50, or it could be worth $250

condition is everything, as well as originality.

is it an army style or converted to police? The number on the back suggests police.

So, no, its not just a brown holster.

Everything is original and still has pull string. It looks as if something is written on the front along the edge. Im not sure if am reading it right but it says L.P.Tn. Nr 787. No cracks. Very moist leather. some stiching is comeing out in the back.

An L.P.th would be in the Thueringin area (sp) and is in the army style, but that is a police marking, so I would say it is a police usage.

Its in rough condition, maybe worth a $100, maybe less, maybe more. Softer leather is a bad sign, as the fibers have broken down, same as very dry leather.

Edward,

Would you be a buyer for $100?
