Default Double Date with Unit Markings

Hello All
Pretty new to this forum ,been reading some post and browsing. My question is I have an old 1915 -1920 double date with unit markings, could anyone tell me what they mean.

...???...Did you sandblast the rear face of the gripframe to make the inscription stand out???

Looks like photo flash white out, not sanded..

Absolutley not sand blasted must be the camera flash.
