Default I decided to find the most worn torn

yet historically significant to have Doc Ted do his magic to proudly hang with my other trophys. I bet no one will tell the difference

Just kidding, of course, but from what I have heard of Thor, he might just have been able to pull this off...

Nope, not me, Gale Morgan could do it but not me. I have turned down a few really bad ones, and I have actually turned down some real nice original collector grade guns in the hands of the uninformed. I have even shipped some back that were too nice once I looked at them. I really dont like doing really bad ones, it is usually a waste of money, they never come out that perfect. The one that Morgan did that was featured in a a Gun Reference book titled "1300 grams of Rust" where he took a bad broomhandle and turned it into a musuem piece was incredible. This man truely is talented and is the best restorer I know. Sad, my mentor Bill Adair passed away last February. He was pretty darn good at restorations too.
That K date was not that bad when I bought it but it was all salt blued and I wanted it to look right. I have lots of before and after pictures from my earlier days of restorations that can be seen on my website. My favorite is that Code 480 that I have shown on the forum many times. I am truely blessed to be able to do these restorations. It is a labour of love.
I love restoring Lugers first, then P.38s next, PPKs, then lastly Broomhandle Mausers. I will NEVER do another LAHTI again, darn near impossible to reassemble without jigs. They are like a Luger on Steroids. HEAVY........man those things are heavy!

Ted, I have two PO-8's that are salt blued. I thought some one had messed with them until I learned that the German Army did them that way in 1941 and 1942--or--is this an incorrect finish? I really like the deep blue color and had intended to have them rust blued. Lewis

Lewis, Mauser salt blued the Luger starting late in 1937. So Lugers that you mentioned would have been salt blued by Mauser. The 1914 Erfurt Artillery I am doing for you will be rust blued and a little rougher in finish than a DWM ARtillery Luger.
Make sure on your later Mauser Lugers that they dont display rounded edges or over buffing that would indicate someone has reblued them. BYF Lugers from Mauser will also have a lot of tranverse polish marks especially across the top of the toggle links, breechblock and chamber, they will not appear mirror polish if original.

Ted, You and Jerry Burney have tobe the most righteous Gentlemen our forum and God have destined our paths to cross. True deciples, each with Your own God given craft. I've am proud to own samples of Your artWhere others have given up or worse yet attemp to even try. You both recognise if its there one last chance at life. I'm sure Jerry has pricked him self more ofter than any diabetic and Ted with the noxious chemical fumes need to erode the metalic abuse of misuse. Neither of You giving up unless theres times that neither determines its truly a waste of time, effort or patience. We must most of all We should thank both their families who share in their familial distraction, and realze the sacrifices You give, grant and bestow. From Debbie and I tks LUVYA!
