Two carbines revisited
I have finaly received the two carbines refered to in my recent post. Although I have the opinion of an expert on the subject who is a member of this forum, I thought I should share the pictures and ask for your impressions. Ah, Latin America, where people actually used their carbines! Both show honest wear and the first appears to have a sideplate which was manufactured locally.
I'm puzzled my the Nazi acceptance stamp on the first carbine's front grip tang. It does not appear to be authentic and I am puzzled why someone would add this. Boost value? |

The first one also has a Portuguese proof next to the receiver lug. (Triangle in a circle). It's been around.

The triangle in a circle occasionally shows up on the interior of Lugers and may just be an inspector using that die, just like various letters, numbers and symbols are inspection marks. When the triangle and circle is found on the exterior of a Luger or other gun it probably indicates a Portuguese connection. But it is also quite possible that you are correct and the carbine spent some time in Portugal.
