I have a 1913 luger and need info pls.

I know nothing about this pistol, can you help me identify it please?.I bought it 20-25 years ago and it has been sitting in my gunsmiths closet for 18 years!. Now that it is back, I want to embrace it and bring it to standard. But first I need basic info so I don't ask super dumb questions.

Sorry, the idea was to go to a proper forum area as I was told my pistol is not an P08 and I was in a P08 forum thread area. I figured I had better start at the bottom of the info ladder!.

makes sense.

What you have is a DWM from 1913 that has had a longer barrel put onto it. 1913's are not as common as say a 1917 or 1918....

Probably makes a heck of a nice shooter

What is the proper designation for the pistol?, everyone talks of artillary, navy, commercial etc, what is it and what barrel should go on it?. I hope to buy a barrel with the barrel extension for it so I can just slap it on. After waiting so long to get it back, I am gunsmith shy!.

Dear sir,does not the barrel and barrel extension get headspaced as one unit, or does the entire pistol need to be fitted to the barrel?. I do so hope you will accept my dearest apology for daring to think of the pistol in question as a mere firearm that would have interchangability with others of it's kind.
Now with that said, the pistol in the photos above professionally fitted with a proper 4.5" barrel would be what model/designation?. Is it an ex military pistol or is it a commercial pistol?. Now do forgive me for dragging my knuckles on your forum but one must learn to walk sometime.

Your Luger is an early military model. A new barrel can be fitted and would have to be properly headspaced by a competent gunsmith, hopefully much quicker than 18 years! If you just want to put the proper length barrel on it and have it in shootable condition, it probably will be in the neighborhood of $200, maybe less. When it is done, you will not have a very valuable piece, probably $400-500 or so, but it will be a fun gun. Feel free to drag your knuckles here any time...usually there aren't any dumb questions but somtimes there will be dumb answers. Good luck

Sarcasm?, I dare say my good man that no such thing was intended or implied, I was just trying to elevate myself to the percieved level that the thread seemed to call for. You command of the english language is excellent, dare I say you may consider in the future to add a little humanity to your posts, unless of course you are a northern German , if that is the case you are spot-on. Just kidding!. There just seems to be quite the "pebble beach" attitude here towards these pistols that I have never encountered on a gun forum before, more jewlers loop collector than shooter. I will rise to the occasion. So, is it military or commercial?????

I have many other dopey hobbies that keep my bankroll thin, but I have $$ earmarked for this pistol that I love and am so happy to be back in contact with. When reblued by me it may not win a trophy at the Concours d'Elegance of P08's, but it will shine in my eyes!. : )

Thanks guys, great info. I will use the on-site photo hardware from now on. I feel it is a bonus to load photos on-site, it is just rare to see. I will make this into a fun shooter that is safe. The chamber is about .020 ballooned oversize!, this leads me to believe the barrel is crappolla anyway. Now I just have to find a good gunsmith here in so-cal that is not backlogged, feel free to recommend one. I have done bluing before with great results so that will be done by me.
