Default e/63 stamps on takedown tool

All,

Is there any difference in the e/63 mark on Mauser takedown tools? I know there were at least three different size stamps for e/63 on the P.08 as the years went by, but how about on the takedown tools?

Mike, I can't answer your question but I have been following your search. The E63 on the Simpson site did not look at all like the one I have here. Like it was punched really deeply. I didn't like it....
The one I have is a stick wing eagle and the 63 is a good size..not overly large but it is as wide as the eagle.
The eagle is slightly faint but the sticks in the wings are fine lines, very distinct and seperate.
One way to determine authenticity is to measure thickness. Most fakes are over one tenth of an inch. 1.15-1.20 Originals measure .98-.95 or less.
Not a 100% test but always a good place to start.

Mike, The E/63 acceptance on the loading tools changed with the changes of this marking on the pistols and magazines, so you can find 3 or 4 variations on tools as well. TH

Thanks Jerry.

Lugerdoc - Do the different stamps on the tools match up date wise with the stamps on the pistol? My P.08 has the small e/63 stamp - should I be looking for the same size stamp to match?

abukafura,

Yes I got your PM (thanks) and sent you a reply to the netnet.net email address you gave me. Please let me know if you did not get it and I'll forward you a new PM.

How does the stamping on this one look to you all?
