Several years ago I showed this 1912, and have a few questions. I am thinking of selling it (somehow, I have ended up with three 1912 DWM's)... It is in fairly nice shape, and is a fairly early one (sn 1064). One problem with it is that it was relined into a 7.65mm from its original 9mm. How hard is it to "rebore" it to 9mm, and is it worth it?
There were only an estimated 10,000 made, the smallest number of dated DWM's made in WW1. That very fact makes me want to keep it, but like I said, I recently picked up another 1912 and have a 1912/1920 weimar police. The smaller bore size I would presume knocks it into a "shooter" category, and if so, I would not beleive that it should be just a "shooter" price as it is "rarer"? Opinions? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/img_0666_copy1.jpg Opinions? Thanks, Ed |

it is interesting Howard, if I had it 'returned", it is all mathcing, down to the firing pin and grips. Might be smarter to do that.

Two pictures of the barrel, funny how the barrel is darker in the pictures, in real life it does not show up that much, (your PM box was full L so, posted them here)

Howard,
Are you sure that you weren't thinking of Redman's Rifling and Reboring in Omak Washington. I know that they do a lot of this type work and have an excellent reputation. Their web link is: www.redmansrifling.com Hope this helps. JD |

I called them, no answer but left a message. It appears it would cost around $250 to rebore the luger, not bad to put it right. Unsure, is that a restore, as the outside is fine and it would just be brought back to originality?

Ed,
Restoration, imho. I also think that the pistol rebored would retain more value than left as .30. --Dwight |

Ed,
I cannot speak as a "collector" since I collect shooters. In my opinion the gun would certainly be more desirable if it were relined as a 9mm instead of 30 Luger, however, a relined Luger in any caliber is an alteration that I think would significantly impact collector value. I have suffered a bad experience with a relining job from a highly regarded gun shop. I suggest that you leave the gun as it is, factor in the cost of a 9mm relining job in your selling price, and let the buyer (not you) risk a butcher job if they choose to have it relined again.
