Default Smooth Wood Grips on a 1923 Commercial?

Would these be aftermarket or homemade?
I bought some checkered wood ones and prefer those, but if the plain ones are original I will keep them.

Lugers left the factory with checkered grips, unless they were a really special presentation, and then they were usually so marked. I doubt that the grips on your gun IF ORIGINAL left the factory uncheckered. If they are original, it is much more likely that some previous owner UN-checkered them with sandpaper and steel wool...

Welcome to the Lugerforum Jeff... How about some photos of your 1923 Commercial... some collectors think they are less desireable, but personally I think they are the DWM at their finest...

I will have to get out the digital camera. The Broom Closet did an awesome job re-bluing & re-strawing(?) my P08.

I especially like the lack of import marks. Some of the new import marks are hideous.

You can also buy them smooth, I have or have had several pair with nice wood designs on them.

Hello jcschmieder,

Could you post info for the Broom Closet ?

Folks are always looking for options for refinish work.
