RK, Congratulations to whom? As many may know I have made Luger lanyards a passion for many years. I have my opinion about this one and I would not congratulate the winner. A sympathy card yes, congratulations, no. Jerry Burney

Hi Jerry,

Hope the move up north went well...

Could you let us know what you did not like about this piece. I think "Lugcol" is one of our LF members in Europe...

Regards,

Pete...

Pete, Yes the move to my home in Colorado went well except for the weather. Snowed today...Us Yumans are not used to such nonsense!

This lanyard is the biggest bunch of hooey I have seen in some time. The seller states it is "original" . This is an out and out fabrication or perhaps he has ideas that it is original to the cow it came from. I have no doubt it is leather and it indeed fits on a German Luger.
This fixture, where it attaches to the Luger is someones 's fantasy of a German lanyard. It looks new and I suspect it was made very recently. The brass stud is shiney new and has a shape I have never seen on any piece of German equiptment.
It's true the Germans used small round leather cord for their issue lanyards. It is extremely strong even though it is small in diameter and will hold a hundred pounds easily. The leather cord shown may actually be authentic, hard to say as I cannot see it well.
The German lanyard had a dainty but intricate brass swivel with a leather keeper and stud to attach it to the lanyard loop on the pistol.
There are a handfull of people I know of here in the US who actually have real issue lanyards. George Anderson, Jerry Peters, Ralph Shattuck, Myself. Probably one or two I have forgotten. They are extremely rare but seen in many collections in Europe.
I believe this has been discussed on the Forum before and perhaps photo's are available somewhere here in the archives. I am a computer idiot so I don't know how to find them or post any. If I can get Ellie to do it I will post a photo of a real issue lanyard.
