Post Interesting Artillery Holster Plus

On eBay at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...237344433&rd=1

Offered from Belarus, formerly part of Russia, if I am recalling correctly. Is it safe to bid on an item from Belarus??

The holster, IF it is genuine, has been modified, and IMHO it is not genuine but an old reproduction. The cleaning rod handle is incorrect... too large in diameter and too short in length. I believe that we shall start seeing many items coming from this part of the world that will claim to be original equipment, but are actually clever fabrications like the artillery holster mold we saw a few days ago that was offered for hundreds and is not being relisted with starting price of $0.99

Be extremely cautious... Caveat Emptor!

I don't claim any expertise in holsters, but IMHO if I bought this piece I would pay for it with a stack of $3 bills.

I think the stitching is too white, compared to the wear on holster.

FWIW; I bought a artillery holster in the early 80's, I would swear it is original, but Jerry says it is not. There are good reproductions out there, that are also old.

Apparently, others are concerned about this holster. It is only up to $10.50 with two days remaining.

Let's see...that would be 3 ½ $3 bills. Sounds about right.

Looks like it didn't fool many folks. Closed at $51.01 with four bids. Did not break the reserve or come anywhere close to the "Buy it Now" price of $900.

My brother stopped off in Belarus while traveling from Germany to Lithuania. He made the mistake of getting off of the train to watch them change the wheels on the train to accomodate the Russian rail gage. Some guard came up and put a machine gun in my brothers face and he was quite serious about blowing my brothers head off. We had a girl from APAR who came in from Belarus and she politely said that there are not many tourists going to Belarus. A German APAR girl told us that many women traveling alone through Belarus disappear from the train and are not heard from again. The parents of the APAR girl from Belarus told her not to go back home because there was a danger of a civil war there. I would estimate that this was about three years ago. The next time my brother went to Lithuania from Germany, he took a plane.
