Talking Changing Barrels

Is it possible to simply remove a 7.65 Luger barrel and replace it with a 9mm without any other issues involved?

Harry, it is almost just that simple PROVIDED you have the correct tools and headspace guage. The problem is that the Luger receiver is very easy to ruin if you don't have the proper tools... You can really screw up the receiver ring if the receiver wrench slips and the chance of bending the "fork" of the receiver is also very high.
The main recoil spring must also be replaced since the 9mm recoil is much heavier than the 7.65 caliber.

This is not a job for the faint-at-heart, and isn't like changing a barrel in a Browning Colt type design like the M1911.

I do not recommend this task for amateurs. There are a few members of the forum that have the correct tools and who will guarantee their work. Two that come to mind are Hugh Clark, and Tom Heller (lugerdoc).

One other alternative would be to send the gun to a barrel specialist and have the smaller bore opened up and rechambered for 9mm.

Thanks John; that was informative and useful. I'll just keep the one at 7.65 and switch the barrel on another 9mm receiver that I have. Guess I have to get some ammo for the 7.65.
