Default DWM - Not the same old story

I have posted so often about my frustrations with my 1921 DWM that balance is required when positive results are obtained.

35 rounds in 35 rounds out, slow fire, rapid fire. Zero problems, hold-open, feed as advertized. Only 35 rounds you say, this Luger previously could not pass 3 rounds without a problem. I changed the magazine spring and smoothed out a small dent the spring may have been catching on making the difference. It wasn't the ammo (Remington UMC) as I shot 35 rounds from the same box that had caused jams before. Accuracy at 25 yards remains consistant with a nice group around the center. Now I wish I had brought more ammo with me. Such fun...

Glad to hear you are finally having some success. Good detective work on your part.

It sure does Rick, as I had about given up on this example. I had previously replaced most of the springs, including the mainspring. I had tried different mags with similar poor results, but I had this new mag spring so I "sprung" for it. Worked!!! Bob

PS Got your engine pic of the ZR-1, a little more potent than the beer keg engine (Rotary) in my RX-7.

Default Re: Springs-Good that the Message is getting out

I sure am glad to hear eveybody getting the message that good mag and recoil springs help the functioning of a Luger pistol a lot. They are not the only cause of functioning problems but a very frequent cause. Just remember:

1. You need a strong spring for the action to work properly and close soundly.

2. You need a strong magspring to keep up with an action that can open and close in less than 1/30 of a second.
