Post watch out for dixie pawn and guns in Ky-I got ripped off

Bought A 1936 Krieghoff-so THEY SAID off guns america. Gun arrived and toggle was a krieghoff but the rest of the gun was a complete mismatch. I was told that only the side plate wasnt matching. I paid for this via us postal money order and returned via usps next day delivery. They recieved it last month on the 17th. on june. Said i didnt have the right to take apart the gun for inspection. I have asked for my money back on numerous occasions and the have not sent it. They keep givimg me the run around with ...you have to talk to this and what have you. Here it is the 3rd of july and NO money yet??? I thEn spoke to the "gent" and he said he would send the $ out for early moring delivery on this wed. the 2nd. it never came. Now he is saying he sent it priority, and will take 2-3 days. Problem is I was supposed to go on vacation with this returned $. Now because I didnt cancel my reservations 7 days in advance I have to pay the hotel $600 in cancellations (4 days)because if the funds do arrive I have to sign for it. Not only that, I have to pay for 3 plane ticket changes at $200 ea. and to top it off, I have to pay $200 for the car rental because I wont be spending the weekend and their policy is....SO as you can see my wife is furious with me- the little one is upset...what the F---! So if you ever see a a email with dixiegunandpawn@hotmail.com BEWARE!! lETS GET THE WORD OUT. Isnt this an internet crime -FBI,mail fraud-us postal police, atf? any suggestions. Thanks and god bless the usa-happy birthday!!!

The post office or whomever will hold the letter for you until Monday? I know that isn't the point and this guy seems like a jerk. How could they NOT expect you to look it over, unless they knew it was obviously mismatched.

I would calmly and well thought out write this story on every gunboard I knew. It is factual and you should have any proof if they question you.

Further, I presume you complained to guns america?

What are guns america's rules on buying and selling of guns off of their site?

Hey heydrich2,

Do you have a phone number for these folks? I can't assist you with plane tickets, reservations, etc. - but I would "pull out all stops" with a Krieg transaction. No promises - but it's worth a phone call to me. No charge.

Oh - and if you are serious about buying a Krieg - a real one - post in the Krieg LugerForum. I'm not a dealer, nor have any for sale - but I'd be pleased to assist another budding HK collector....

Heydrich:

Since I was interested and this was close by (80 Miles), on the 4th of June, I checked it out personally. the 1936 Krieg # 4586 had questionable matching numbers: however it had a Mauser side plate, nunbered in wrong place, mismatched trigger lever, and sear bar, mismatched toggle axle and ?(dwm) wood grips w/chip at safety. Gun was reblued to include normally strawed parts. Reblue may have concealed import markings, I Did not proceed with take down of parts. To say something nice I told the dealer it was a complete franken luger and might make a shooter. Dealer admitted to limited knowledge of Lugers and said he had just reduced the price from $3000 to $2000. I passed and left. Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

Regards,

I guess I don't understand, but why would one base vacation plans on refund money, which might be delayed or never show up? If the gun had been exactly as advertised, would you have kept it? What then for the vacation?

This, though, is the problem with buying sight unseen and from people who are not knowlegeable in the collector area. To most such dealers, a Luger is a Luger and only what they see on the top counts.

It might be a better bet to buy from a known Luger dealer and expert (several have been mentioned on this site) who is known to provide both a complete description and a guarantee that the gun is as described.

This is the reason I will not buy a Luger from an auction site unless I know and trust the seller. There's just no way you can be sure of anything. Even at a gun show you cant always get cooperation. Three weeks ago I attended one and came across an individual who had in his hands a very nice looking piece. I asked if I could look it over, he handed it to me for inspection. It looked all original on the outside. I then asked if I could take it down for further inspection, he declined. I thanked him for his time and walked away.

Packet I agree with this,
quote:
I asked if I could look it over, he handed it to me for inspection. There seem to be a large number of idiots in this world, no offense to those idiots that take offense, but it is possible that the dealer / seller is afraid they would screw up the Luger in some way. I.E., grab something from the pocket to make that little take down lever thingy move, just a bit... SCRATCH>>>

Still, as you said, if they won't take it apart in front of me, they either are hiding something or have no idea how to get it back together.

No offense taken, you have a valid point. I did tell him that I was Luger collector and a gunsmith, but, he doesnt know me from Adam. Still, I looked at 5 Lugers that day offered by dealers, and they had no problem with it.

Besides Patrick, I don't blame you, WHY would you spend $400 to $1,200 and up (not me ) and not be sure it wasn't messed with?

So, obviosuly I am in agreement with you, just throwing out negatives, sorry on my part,

No need to be sorry. You have shared some valid arguments. To me, this board is for learning. Anything we can share is very helpful to all. I have been a member of several forums, but this one is by far the best. Integrity abounds here. It is very refreshing.
