Unhappy OT-Knappworst Braunschweig

Would anyone happen to know what meaning "Knappworst Braunschweig" might be? It is stamped on the stock of a Mauser Es340B single shot .22 Rifle made in 1934. Any help would really be appreciated!

Sir,
I believe you to be a very intelligent person. I have followed many of your post and have always found them to be very interesting and informative. You think it has anything to do with that ugly dog you have or do you come by it naturally? Just kidding, I just happen to be a hound dog lover and had the best one in the world until last Oct. when he died.
You don't know how much I appreciated the information you provided me and I do appreciate you taking the time to provide it. Maybe I can do something for you sometime. That' what I like about this forum. It's a give and take situation. Also, let me wish you a Happy, Safe and of course prosperous New Year.
You know in closing I think I will contact that company and see if they have any history on selling the rifle. It was made in 1934. It would be interesting to see if they will reply to my message.
Thanks Again, Roadkill

Thanks for the kind words, were they only true though. Wish my wife had a little of the same opinion. Braunschweig is a rather large town in lower Saxony, was 90% destroyed in WWII and under Russian occupation until '89, might have the records but I sort of doubt it, The business has been in the same family since the 1840s, seventh generation now runs it. They carry a very good line of guns, prices aren't bad either. Good luck.

I would take it as a great favour if you coud send me a piccie of your Mauser on my e-mail. I have a slightly later version of the same thing bu with matching scope and mounts [teehee].. [quote]

My Distinquished Mr. tacfoley,
I would very much like to send you a picture of my rifle but due to my egg basket money dwindling from buying luger stuff, I cannot afford a camera. I am limited to scanner images only, I am however interested in acquiring the scope and mounts off of your rifle, I would really like to have them. Please let me know when you are ready to part with them? If you see any accessories for these rifles you don't want, let me know.
In Your Honor,
