Look out for fake K dates!
Was at the same show that I saw the nice Krieghoff went into the back room to look around. Saw a Luger in a repro holster for $850, popped it out to take a look. Aside from what looked like a poor cold blue job and a numbered mag release, the gun was so so. I noticed that on the receiver ring it was K dated. I thought I had seen stick eagle 63 proofs on the side? Sure enough they were! A completely matching 1936 or 37 dated S/42 that had the date ground off and a "K" engraved on the top.
A poor fake at best as they did not bother to place any gothic S proofs on any parts. I found out later that the dealer had bought it from a guy in the Chicago area paid $850+ for it! Live and learn, the guy showed him the Blue book and he not knowing any better bit! As I understand it there are few more pieces of his floating around so beware. I actually think that I might offer him $450 for it tomorrow to have it for a shooter? He probably won't take it, but who knows?
