Portland Gun Show is this weekend. I'll post a report a little later, but I thought I'd show you my morning's acquisition and give everyone a bit of a chuckle at my expense.
![]() Its a byf 42, all matching, too bad--was once a really nice piece until somebody buffed it and plated it. Really nice repro grips and an FXO mag. Guess I'm in the market for some fancy grips now... --Dwight |

Hello Dwight,
You might want to contact Herb Keister. He found a nice $ 325.00 Simpson at the Reno gun show that was black hard chromed. Herb found a guy that removed the process... Pete... <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> |

Dwight, see what happens when you go without me!
Still looks like a fun gun. I won some of those "pearl" looking Jay grips off of e-bay last week, so should get them in a week or so... Might look sweet on that buffed puppy.

Pete,
No way I'd want to un-do this puppy, the steel has been buffed pretty hard, wouldn't be any point to it and not cost-effective to boot. I'd rather put serious money into something serious. It's just fun and different, an early Christmas present to myself. --Dwight |

Dwight, It's hard to tell from your photo if this pistol is plated or just polished down to the bare steel. You might want to double check, as it will be easier to restore if not plated. Tom H.

Tom,
Definitely plated. The guy I bought it from sold it cheap because he thought it was white, and discovered otherwise when he tried to cold-blue it. Also there are spots where the nickel has deteriorated a bit. Restoration is not in the cards, I bought it for what it is. --Dwight |
