I have a BYF 42 Luger in great shape all matching Number's except for the mag. I have 3 FXO mags and 1 Mec-gar. I have tried the straight arm and different ammo and my luger will lock the toggle back after the last rd. fired about 75% of the time. If you manually operate the toggle it locks open every time. Any help will be appreciated. Eddie.

Eddie,
This is a common problem and there are numerous posts regarding it on the forum. In most cases the ammo is not hot enough or the magazine is damaged or too weak. It sounds like you've taken the first step with different mags and ammo. I suggest two things: With the receiver assembly removed, manipulate the hold open and make sure its not sticking. Also, remove the right grip, insert a magazine and examine the magazine loading button in its slot in the frame. The button pushes the hold open up. If it's damaged or the slot is scuffed up it can cause the problem. If everything seems to be working properly you might try a lighter recoil spring available from Wolff Gunsprings (link on Luger homepage). KFS |

I have nearly the same problem with one of my mags. It keeps 1.5mm exposed at the bottom of the grips and when I **** the gun the hold open does not work until I press the mag up then the hold open will work fine.
