Default Swiss Mauser Banner 06/34 Oberndorf 1934 Luger #1288v

I recently picked up another Luger. I've been wanting a Swiss Mauser Banner and came across this one at Cabela's. I had it shipped to my local Bass Pro and picked it up. Before purchase I looked up the serial number and noticed it has been documented on the forum and also in the book "Mauser Parabellum"!

I did purchase it knowing that it has been refinished. If you look at any Swiss 06/34 they are commanding very high prices. I felt comfortable with the price I paid for a refinished example.

Cabela's has listed an unusual number of Swiss Lugers lately. So maybe someone sold their collection? My Swiss Luger was recently sold at the end of February on RIA for a price of $1763. It had a very basic/bland description. I'm curious if Cabela's is buying them to resell, within 2-3 weeks it was listed on their website for sale.

Here are some references from this forum and Mauser Parabellum regarding 1288v.

The Luger itself looks amazing. Whoever refinished it took care to try to keep the lines nice and straight. I do not see any over buffing. One peculiarity I noticed with it, it looks as if the banner was stamped in the wrong direction, then the center link was milled down, then the banner reapplied.

DWM prints state the toggle should have a thickness of 7.8mm, my toggle has been milled down to 7.42mm so the banner could be reapplied. You cannot see the mistake with the naked eye, only with a camera or under magnification. I've looked extensively at other banners in my serial range and the font is consistent, I also found a few examples in nearby serials where banners were lightly stuck, deeply struck, and double struck. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in quality with these first few banner stampings. If you go by Mauser Parabellum, or Joops informative posts, my banner could've been one of the first dozen or so struck. Perhaps struck by hand instead of machinery at this point. Looking at later banners, the font changes and the quality is consistent. The toggle is unnumbered like many examples I've seen, however on the bottom of the centerlink is stamped "8C'.

Has anyone else encountered a banner stamping error like this? Does anyone know if Joop van de Kant or Don Hallock would have handled/inspected this Luger in person? Or would it have solely been owner submitted information?

The banner under magnification showing the remnants of the old stamping.

The frame itself is a surplus DWM Navy long frame marked with Crown/M:

Here are some photos of the pistol itself:
