New Old Stock

Okay, This is my 9mm Navy Carbine - essentially a 1920 carbine that was put together and fixed by Don, GT and Jimmy Solomon - I had picked up a stock that had an original, marked stock attaching lug, but someone had used a stock that they had, and it was curved like a Winchester or the like.
Folks seemed to feel that it was 'not original' enough looking to fulfill the requirement by the BATF. Personally I thought it did - but then Jim offered me an original stock, that he had refinished and re-checkered it.

Don also MADE the forestock for me, using an original as an example and Jim checkered.

I know I need to redo the grip stocks, or put some on that are lighter (i had cleaned them up and added BLO before I got the stocks).

Nice! But I would stain the stocks to match the color ofvthe grips.

Folks are right. The new buttstock not only looks much better but allows you to sight down the barrel, not have to scrunch your head over on its side.

I don't see a wedge. How'd you/Jim/Don/Gerry fasten the forearm to the frame extension???

It’s a 1920 carbine that I put a navy sight on it

Ah. I didn't notice the rear sight. I had visions of German sailors going ashore on a tropical island and hunting wild boars...

With a screw from the bottom!

Normally called a "crescent" butt stock.

Take my word for it, if it isn't tucked into the shoulder properly, it will punish the shooter. I have Winchester Hi-Walls in .38-55 and .45-70 with crescent butt stocks and they will let you know if it's shouldered wrong.

Your second stock looks great and that should be a fun Luger to shoot.

I disagree with Vlim, I would lighten/exchange the grip stocks to match the stock and forearm. I really like that look......big improvement!!

Are you pleased with the drop angle, Ed. Looks like it is rotated to create a fairly significant drop.

I believe that was a fairly common repair for broken-off wedge slots...Sometimes with a brass escutcheon inlaid into the forearm...
