Toggle wear~
What can you tell by toggle wear? Wear? reblue? Are there any old tell signs to look for? A 1900 Test Luger, Eric

The areas of the toggle or parts touching it where I've noted wear from operation are around the rear of the breech bolt and bluing loss on the outside rear of the frame. I think some collectors have also noted wear on the bottom of the breech bolt re: the 'notch' that engages the hold-open. The wear on the frame can be helpful (but not definitive) in assessing if the pistol has been re-blued. Damage to the breech bolt or frame can mean a mainspring issue or use of ammo that is too powerful. I'm not sure how the bottom notch could wear. Is there a specific wear issue you have in mind?
