Default P08 in the new Star Wars movie Rogue One!

Just got home from seeing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the theater. It's great, set before the original movie from 1977. I noticed the main character's (Jyn Erso) blaster looked a lot like a P08. Searched the web and sure enough it's a modified P08! Note, all the sci-fi blasters in the Star Wars movies are based on real guns including Han Solo's which is a modified Mauser.

I hope that they used a non-firing replica as a basis, like they did with the Han Solo Blaster

But were they all replicas??? The 1977 storm troopers carried white-painted MG-34's, and the little brown-hooded creatures had a cut-down Enfield jungle carbine...

Vilm,
I'm pretty sure it is an "air soft" or some such; just look at the visible trigger spring.

Keep in mind the pic I embedded is a replica prop made by someone not connect with the movie itself. Also, if any members here are also on the RPF, there's a huge thread over there on the blaster:

And video on YouTube:

Well, it does mean that a lot of P08 replicas will now be modified / hotrodded / customized

Looks like the love child of a Luger, and a Ruger 22/45 lite.

The "blaster rifles" the stormtroopers carried were modified Sterling machine guns.
Some fired blanks from a short five or ten round magazine.
In some scenes of the first movie you can see spent blanks ejecting and on the floor. (Most visible during the scene where Luke and Leia swing across the chasm.)
