Debbys' my new nickname 'Lugerholic'!! I have a few of the symptoms. One, any where you look in your special place is a luger or reminder! You keep counting them is case one disappeared or worse stolen when you we in the bathroom!!!! You always have one coveted Luger trophy, most valued and cared for! You forget which one remains your favorite and fall back in love with another! Each share with you its' own personality and memories of from where and how! Every luger contributed in its own way a story of luger love affair! Each has its place of importance in our hearts and mind! You can download wallet size photographs of your favorites so at gunshows they replace the old baby pictures! Isn't it so nice to have a place, a second home to share, exchange compassion and each of us! Luger Love with all of us! Ill add more thoughts tomorow, Please Join In! Love to see just how many are in denial much like myself~~Ps No Cure! Eric

This disease could get very expensive. Well, thank goodness, I don't have it that bad....yet.

Yes,
I'm a "lugerholic", there I've said it. Used to be an "Arisakaholic".

I vividly remember the first time I saw a Luger pistol. My father and I were in our garage and our neighbor was visiting with us over the fence. Both he and my Dad were WWII vets and were speaking of their time overseas. I was six years old at the time. The neighbor invited us over to see the war trophy he brought home. He pulled it from the holster and Dad allowed me to hold it. Looking back from many years ago I knew at that time I wanted one just like the one I held. My father passed when I was 10 and I never was able to talk about his wartime experiences. The very first handgun I purchased was a re-blued 30 commercial. My buddy's father bought it for me at a garage sale for $75. I was 17 at the time (oh, the horrors of a young boy with a handgun!!). The Luger disease had held firm since then.
Thanks to the many members for posting pictures of their incredible collections. G2 |

The real popularity and interest in lugers in the 50s after 2 wars and about to enter another. In the fifties, lugers started to take on the unique personality. As a second look by their of children, another generation was born. In the fifties, two authors wrote 2 books to legitimize German Luger Collecting. The 'Luger Pistol' written in 1955 and Harry Jones, 'Luger Variations' in 1959. The guns are the same however we all losing many of our luger experts over time! I agree, in the last 34 years or so I don't even want to think about how many guns I've been compelled to sell or trade, under the excuse that I wanted to get "something better, an improvement..." in several cases I stupidly sold at a loss... ![]() ![]()
