Luger Mag Loader

I have found these to be handy for loading and cleaning magazines. Saves your thumb from doing all the work and cheap too!

It is for a standard Luger mag. Don't know why they say .22.

It slips over the mag tube, groove and hook to the rear. Push down on the grooved part with your thumb. The hook will hold the follower all the way down, making cleaning the inside of the tube simple.

This loader will not work on full sized Lugers. It is meant be slid over the magazine body, with the long "tail" positioned over the magazine spine. The loader then comes in contact with the follower button and secures it while sliding down the length of the magazine. I don't think this one is big enough for a standard Luger.

This one is a little different. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/410...r-single-stack This style works similarly to the snail drum loader, pushing the last round down enough to allow insertion of the next under the narrow lips at the rear. I suppose the drum mag loader would save the expense, although it's only ten bucks! For cleaning the inside of the tube, I use needle-nosed spring clamps which can reach thru the follower slot and hold it all the way down.

All I can say is that it works well on all my Luger magazines. Maybe message the seller to make sure he is selling MOD. P-08.

Notice this one also says 22LR. This one appears to be the same as the eBay loader. This loader WILL work on a standard Luger magazine. I use one all the time.

I hate to throw a Luger tool in the works, but that is what I use... If the edge in the whole is not sharp enough, just file it. Or even put a piece of tape over the metal if you are afraid of scratches.

I bought a couple of cheap-o repros, just to have on hand. When they arrived, I found that the hole had no lip, it just went straight through. I created a lip with a carbide Dremel bit, but it wound up having a bit of a bevel to it, as your hand -filed version also seems to have. Because of the bevel, the tool tends to wedge behind the follower button, not just hook over it, and the arrangement makes mine bind up repeatedly on the way down. Do you have such a problem with yours?

*edit* I got looking at this tool after writing, and upon closer inspection, the feature that contributed to the binding turned out to be the way the relief "channel" on the back side was milled. After widening the channel, no more binding!

Just to add to the collection of knowledge, here are two fine speed loaders that do not work. The otherwise wonderful Uplula (9mm to 45acp) and the Baby Uplula (22lr and 380acp).
I tried them with a repo mag and they regretfully don't work. They are gems for my other pistols, but not for the Luger.

I love that hand made ring loader !!! Very cool idea.

Reminds me of stewardesses on Southwest who used to have a special ring with a wide flange to open pop-top cans!

So, who's going to fabricate a Luger Ring that doubles as a magazine loader tool ?

I could attach loops to tools so they can be installed on your favorite lanyard, perhaps along with dog-tags, etc. They'd be handy and un-loseable. Send me a cheapo-repro for this treatment.
