I heard about FBI soon might go back to 9 Para, is it true?
I wonder what my Luger friends think about it. It's probably driven by budget, 9m is cheaper than 40S&W or than 45ACP, still a .40S&W/.45ACP have more energy than the 9 Para. I believe 9 Para is a great round surely with lots of advantages. but being a "fanatic" of the old 1911/.45 ACP as far as I'm concerned I think .45ACP it's probably the best combination of accuracy speed and power. Why.. .40S&W is well balanced. The penetration of .45ACP is poor, due to its low muzzle velocity. For unprotected target, it's effective, but it cannot penetrate regular Kevlar vest. Tokarev 7,62x25 penetration is great (actually, over penetration on unprotected target), but its stopping power is not great.

After being a firm devotee of .45acp for many years, I came to the conclusion about 6 or 7 years ago that the .40S&W was the best compromise for personal defense. I have a Sig 229 in my nightstand and a Kahr with me when I go out- both are in .40. I think the 10mm is ideal, but in too big pistols for comfortable carry, and penetration is too much for self-defense. The .40 is as close as I can get without severe overpenetration, and it is in comfortable to carry sized pistols. Bill
