Just aquired another P38. This one is a Mauser from 1944. My others are more modern Walthers from 1963, 1968 & 1975. Much different feel than the alloy slides.
It has a nickel finish and some Wa stamps. All numbers matching. Missing the plunger and spring for the safety and the plunger from the takedown lever. I cleaned out what appeared to be an unusually high amount of goo and grease from the internals and the exterior. There was little or no shine to the finish and things were so gummed up that it would not cycle without lots of effort. Cycles real nice now and brought back some of the shine. Just have to get the missing parts and I will be off to the range. Always looking for the oddballs when shopping for additions to the collection.
