I Lost My Mom 25 Years Ago Today
I lost my mom 25 years ago today. She was 54. My father left us when I was 5 causing my mom to raise me by herself. Mom enrolled me in Mt Carmel elementary school in Bayonne NJ. Eight years of Polish nuns. Then 4 years of Jesuits in Marist high school and Seton Hall Universary. She died on August 8th 1979. I had made it through my first year of law school at Villlanova law school. A week before her death this photograph captured our love towards each other and the last time I saw her alive.. I spoke with her the night before and my last words were "I love You" A quater of a century later the hurt never seems to diminish! We take it for granted that they will always be there. Especially when they are only 54! I would love just one more thank you and a tight hug~I thank her for everything I am today!~~ Eric

Eric,
My Mother passed away the same month (on the 5th), and the SAME year. ...and you are absolutely correct, the hurt never seems to diminish. But I know, that I know, that I will see her again when my time here is over...

My father died on july 20. 1994. Its easy to rebember this date if you're a WW2 buff(my father fought the Japanese in WW2, also was on Soloman islands the same time as JFK, might have seen him) .That's the day the german general staff failed to blow up Hitler.

Mates,
I wanted to join you and tell that while my mother died eight years ago on the 21st of December, my father instead died of lung cancer in February 1989. Now I can tell you thay they belonged to the WWII generation, that is to say that they were extremely serious people, generous but somehow frugal, my mum in particular was a bit of a Prussian sergeant major, especially with me... :-) She died of alzheimer, and in her last days she wasn't even the shadow of what she used to be. In one of the few moments of lucidity, with a knot in my throat I somehow apologised and told her that I wish I had been a nicer person. Well she answered me saying: " Sergio, life starts tomorow" Not many people know this. Sergio

You were probobly a great son! You must give up the 'what ifs' or they will drive you crazy! Things happen that are beyond our control. The only medicine is love, kisses and hugs daily and a few prayers thrown in! PS Life continues every moment!
