Newbe bought my first Luger off GB. Looking for information
I bought my first Luger off GB and am a Newbe to the Forum and the Luger hobby. I bought a 1936 Mauser S-42 that does not have a matching Mag. I might have paid to much but I liked the condition of the gun. I might have put the cart before the horse and should have asked for a forum opinion before I pulled the trigger. I would love to have your feedback on the gun. I am still learning.
Thank you, http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=372370633 |

First of all welcome to this forum of Luger enthusiasts.
As your "first Luger" I think you picked up quite a nice gun, and even if it wasn't 100% in the original state, its a good start anyway. Congratulations!

Hi Dan, and wlecome to the forum. Your Luger looks like a good collectable one. When you get it, double check the internal parts numbering and also the number inside the sideplate (which should correspond to the first two digits of your serial number - either those digits or those digits plus one). You paid a reasonable price for a complete rig with non-matching magazines. Marc

Thank you for your kind responses. Can anybody tell me anything about the Luger based on the serial number of 6325 as well as the holster that came with it?
Thanks Dan |

Welcome, Dan...
In one of the pics, it shows a partial view of a cursive style letter below the numerical digits on the frame. This is part of the serial number--the letter sffix--and will help narrow the date of manufacture of your pistol.

Welcome to the forum and the "addiction" we all call Luger accumulation. It looks to be a nice specimen, in good condition. Congrats!!

Welcome dandaman!! I think the suffix of your 1936 S/42 Luger is a "k". That being the case, it was completed about June 1936. I hope this helps a little.
