I just stumbled into an opportunity to own a couple of Luger's. Let's face it, all gun guys want a Luger.
I am new to Luger's and have little time to buy or pass on these. A quick education would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! http://ingunowners.com/forums/handgu...fo-needed.html |

The artillery Luger with the Safe marked receiver is intriguing... Is the serial number on the frame clear? The barrel shows a "GERMANY" import mark on the sight base. I wonder if this was done over here from imported parts...
It's a parts gun with a rare receiver. Perhaps worth $1000 which is the high end for a shooter. The other Luger is likely in .30 Luger caliber not 9mm. It's most likely a DWM Alphabet commercial form the 1920s. These are not as highly valued as military Lugers and worth $700-$800 depending on condition . I can't judge much from the photos. Marc

The serial number I'm giving you is on the front of the frame under the barrel: 90697.
Germany is printed right under it. Thanks for your time. |

Howdy do, Eric is correct in every topic but I would like to add my opinion that the arty was an early pre 1920 commercial or has a formerly designated 1923 commercial lazy n receiver. My arty has no serial or marks on the barrel either. the second is an alphabet commercial 7-800 tops my price for a pristine example.

Not possible. Lugers can be worth $800 or $3800 --- everything depends on model, manufacturer, etc. there is no easy answer without taking a lot of chances. Folks on the forum have studied for years...

The Artillery has a very odd plug or protrusion above the trigger guard on the front of the frame, as well as a circular cut, which looks like a milled off second plug, under the frame serial number. There is also something odd about the front sight.
Can you provide better photos of these areas of the front frame and front sight so we can see what is going on there? Last edited by alanint; 09-24-2013 at 06:54 AM. |
