I believe you have a holster for the Japanese Model 26 revolver that has been modified. The stitching on the front of the holster was where a pouch was sewed to the front to carry spare ammo, and I think I can make out where the stitching was on the front edge of the holster where the cleaning rod was carried in it's leather pouch. The back of the holster has also had the belt loop modified by removing the original and substituting a new one held on with rivets. A shoulder strap went through the rings on the back of the holster.

Melvyn,
Johnny has got it right, it does appear to be for the Type 26 revolver, with modifications. The Germans never made any "clamshell" type holsters that I am aware of. Marvin |

Because of cuts and mods, I would have to suggest the value is nominal. It is real, but not a valuable item in the monetary sense. I suggest it is worth $5-25 but can't fix a clear value--it would enhance a pistol, though, so might have more value alongside a T26.
