Greetings,
I recently acquired a very nice byf41. The P.08 on the left side of the Luger has a square dot. I was told by another forum member that most or some have a circular dot or period. Can anyone shed any light on this. Mike |

I have one with a dot, a sharp punch mark actually, just behind the serial number on what is probably a replacement part.

Both square and round dots on the P.08 are observed as the roll die was changed in the course of production.

Mike, I believe that the dot on the "P.08" frame marking was changed from a round dot to a square in late 1941 and continued on new frames through the end of production. The change to the square dot can also be observed in the "P.08" designation on 1941 and 1942 dated holsters.
