Default Gunandknife Forum

Hello All,

I just went to the Gun and Knife Forum to check what was new and gues what; IT IS GONE! The Forum had been for sale and there were no takers so the Webmaster has shut it down. I did enjoy that Forum very much and it is a shame to lose it!

I guess we can expect to see some of their Luger posters filter over here.

Dok,

I hope that we can also! I really liked this Forum and hate to see it leave. I wish we had a few days advance notice so we could have posted that the Luger Forum would like all the posters to come over to us.

Default Perhaps ...

if you or Dok has the contact information for that site, you could ask that the owner of the now defunct forum send an email to all of their registered users to invite them over to our side?

Default I never used that board...

but "whois" returned this email address for the domain owner:

mb3006@MINDSPRING.COM

If he knew either of you he might be a little more cooperative than his final webpage implies...

JOhn,

I don't know the guy that owned the site, but he sure sounded "sour" to the whole Forum and appears to be glad not to have it anymore. Most of the guys on the Forum were pretty good and there were a lot of new folks asking questions too. A real shame to lose it from the Internet.

Well my experience was that it was unmoderated, and you could get flamed there pretty easily. Maybe he just got tired of all the BS....

Default Well I just read the Gun & Knife main page...

and it would appear that the bickering and squabbling and flaming that we struggle so hard to prevent was the un-doing of the Gun & Knife Forum. There's a lesson in there guys...

I think it is better to let anyone active in those boards just find the forum, that way they will trickle in and it is easier to deal with one obstinate flamer at one time than all at the same time! Point them to the forum decorum and say if you want to play ......there are rules yanno! Thor

Default Everyone needs to b e able to express their opinion

I think that it is how this forum is run.

I have been on other forums (mustangs, computers, etc.,) and once flames are thrown and no one moderates or stops it, then it becomes the standard and is considered okay. I wouldn't stay on the forum if it was that way. And of course it isn't. I think the majority of people can express their views in a polite (usually ) manner and get their point across. I expect and want everyone to feel they can give their opinion and wouldn't want a forum that was too cushy feely. I mean everyone should express their views, good or bad, it is when they express them in a belligerent and nasty tone that it is maddening.

I've had off line discussion with folks that feel that sometimes the forum gets onto someone, but if all views aren't expressed than what good is a forum? I really want the new guys and gals to feel they can come back, but if they are looking for a $3,000 feedback about their beatup hand me down, then they need to be told that it is probably not worth much. It is how we do it, that is important.

Overall I am pleased when I see conflicting views, how else can we learn?

Ed
