Default Newbie: Test case 1936...

Ok - here's a GB auction:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=335819160

What is the consensus on this pistol?

I personally think its overpriced for condition, cool presentation case and Nazi-issue ammo regardless. Photos aren't all that great, so kinda hard to tell. It seems Jackson Armory has a mixed reputation here...

I'm not going to buy this one - I don't know enough yet - but its my primary interest Luger, so I thought I'd ask opinions to learn from...

Without looking it up, I think the magazine should be a blue tube for that suffix. If I am wrong I'm sure someone here will nudge me in the right direction. They could improve their pics..

Hard to judge much from the bad low resolution photos. May be fine, may not.

If the mag is truly matching, it would add 35-40% to the value of a collectable pistol.

Considering condition (85%?) and the darkness of the front of the barrel (this should be in the white) it may be an old refinish. sn 6315k.

Can't judge authenticity of the tool.

Case is nice, but you can buy one too...

I think it's overpriced. Would have to have a better look to really form an opinion.

As a commercial concern, they need to do better than grainy cellphone pictures for $2500 pistols...

Jackson Armory are bad at putting up blurry pictures of high dollar guns. There could be a reason for that.

I would avoid any military pistol coming with a "presentation case", regardless its condition. That case must have been counted as many dollars.... If paying $2500 for a S/42, there are many choices. Luger domain seller legacy-collectibles.com is a much better choice than Jackson Armory, IMO (looks like they also carry many fancy PPKs).

Frankly, I was puzzled by the terrible pictures. I've seen other J.A. postings that had beautiful pix, dunno Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot is up with these. Most cell phones these days take far better! *shrug*

It doesn't take much to take good pictures nowadays, so it makes you suspect that they don't want you to see everything. Seems like the more expensive the guns get, the crappier the pictures will be.

Right now they have a $4,000 Artillery Luger with pictures that seem to be taken while they were running by with a cell phone camera: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=335794086

And why they always against that burlap background that makes the shot so distractingly busy?

Even the $4K Artillery has better pix than the '36 - not that said pix were all the great, but its all relative I guess.
