Gunsmith buddy told me this one - owners of the pistols complain that the mags stick in the gun and are hard to remove due to the mag disconnect. For less than 10 bucks, aftermarket hammer bushings are available that disable the mag disconnect feature allowing the mags to drop free when pressing the mag release button. As the mag disconnects are so easy to disable, the AG took them off the approved list, and Ruger had to remove all unsold models from dealers shelves.

Unless the AG put this out for dissemination or ruger put out an explanation then it is just conjecture. Not trying to rain on you, but too many times I have heard a gunsmith told me or someone told me.... There may not be a logical explanation. |

That works...And there seems to be a lot of people selling MK2-style hammer bushings to eliminate the magazine disconnect...Here's a nice one - BAM's Hammer Bushing Hmph...The pic doesn't look like my Ruger .22 auto...I wonder if mine has a magazine disconnect??? Edit: No, it doesn't. And it says "MK II" right on it... ![]()

I shot one of these guns last weekend with a suppressor installed. Very light, ergonomic and reliable. I may pick one up myself.

Thats it...MK2 hammer bushing into a MK3 or 22/45 and the mag disconnect is eliminated, and so is the MA compliance........

I'm looking at a parts diagram of the MK II and I don't see where or why the hammer bushing would have any effect on the magazine disconnect...(Of course, the MK II doesn't have one so maybe that's why)...
![]() I routinely remove the magazine 'safety' from any automatic I own...Does anyone have a parts diagram or cutaway of the MK III that shows the interaction of the hammer bushing with the magazine safety???

Vids on You Tube showing the whole replacement....the MK3 bushing has a slot for a spring that are key parts of the disconnect. The MK2 bushing has no slot, so no spring, and no disconnect.....
