Default Erfurt & Mauser Info

Greetings my name is Jeffery. This is my first post and trying to find some info.
I recently inherited a few firearms from my brother. In the mix are a pair of lugers. One looks to be a pre-war Erfurt the other a Mauser. After a field strip they both seem to have correct numbers. The grips have been replaced on the Erfurt also a different mag. The Mauser comes with some type of holster. I am a novice when it comes to these. Any help with info would be appreciated. Here's a few scans of the Erfurt. Will try to get some scans of the Mauser later.

Thanks for your time,Jeffery

Hi Jeffery, and welcome to the forum.

My condolences on your loss of your Brother.

You have what appears to be two very nice Lugers. My first impression is that they are probably collectable.

Are you sure about the Erfurt's replacement grips? While they do look quite clean, they could possibly be original. You have to remove them to see if there are any Erfurt markings inside. If you do take them off, be very careful not to chip or break them, particularly the left one near the safety lever. There are removal instructions on our site.

The magazine with the Erfurt is a post-war Haenel Schmeisser magazine made for the Vopo in East Germany. It is a very high quality magazine. They were sold for several years here by Sarco.

Images from scanners tends to flatten the round portions of the objects.

Do you have any specific questions?

Marc

Hi Marc..thank you for your concern.

I don't know much about lugers and I know It's hard to put a price on just some scanned pics was just wondering what the value might be on these. The Mauser grips are numbered to the gun the Erfurt grips are not.Was wondering about the holster that came with the Mauser. On the back side to the left of the proof stamp(I guess that's what It's called) theirs a light stamp that looks like a
CW or OW over 194.
Thanks for your time appreciate your help.

Nice Lugers. The Erfurt's grips are most definitely reproductions. The poor fit about the base of the safety and below the sideplate confirm this.

So, my guess at collector pricing:

Erfurt - if all parts match, a high end shooter grade $1000

THe 1939 "42" code Mauser Luger - if all parts match, including grips but not including magazine, $1300

The VoPo magazine, $85
The fxo magazine, $125

If you're looking for insurance values, check some of the online Luger retail sites like simpsonltd.com and checkpointcharlies.com and http://www.fgsfirearms.com/ ... These prices are higher than collector prices, covering overhead, support and service expenses... and reflect replacement values.

Thank you both I really appreciate your help.
What's the story on the holster. After looking closer it looks to be stamped 1942 with something stamped above the date.
