Replacement Mitchell Magazines on eBay

This may have already been addressed, but since new members arrive every day, I thought a mention might be in order.

I needed a magazine for my 1917/1920 Luger, and decided to try one of the "new" ones available on eBay. It was from "Active Merchandise" and was priced at @$29.77 post paid.

It arrived promptly, but one dimension was too large. I could force fit it, but it was in so tight, I needed to place a screwdriver on the bottom against a niche in the frame to loosen and pry it out.

At first, I was afraid I might have had a bent frame, but a mag from a different source slid in correctly this morning.

Since the firm I used first does not accept returns (at least in the ad), I thought a note here might save someone some trouble. Mag looked great, sent quickly, but simply was not machined down to fit ALL Lugers. They are surplus stock from the Mitchell Luger.

Mitchell Lugers are not the same dimensions and parts are not interchangeable with pre-ww2 lugers

very true , the mag would work fine on a mitchell . well as good as any if the pistol would actualy shoot, another reason mitchell is no longer around.

I have one that has had several hundred rounds thru it, and never had a problem with it. I think side plate fit is main issue. Looked at several for fit before purchasing one. I have herd others complain about them. John

I had a Navy that broke the extractor pin and prone to jamming. After firing some I noticed a lot a pinging of the metal on the side rails and decided I would let her go. Beautiful gun just not practical.

Thanks John. I lurk a lot with out posting. You guys have so much Luger knowledge that makes me feel very inadequate with my limited knowledge trying to say anything about Lugers.

Well Bill it was such a source of trouble I figured some one else should get the opportunity to trouble shoot the thing.
When the frustration factor overwhelms the pleasure then it is time for a change.
Also comparing the Mitchell to my originals it was painfully less quality and that was produced with modern equipment verses no computer equipment of a 100 years ago.

However I must give the Mitchell guys an E for effort trying to master such a complicated design as the Luger.
