It is an early weimar army luger, the reason Howard said police is that many of these went into police service or were purchased by them.

It does not appear to have any police characteristics, full left, full right, full top, any markings on the gripstrap??

Your Luger should have the chamber dated 1920 or 1921. If it doesn't have a chamber date, then it's been scrubbed and refinished.
