I was looking for a high-ride holster for my Star BM and one of the members at Bladeforums.com referred me to -
http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php? The Leatherworker.net Forums... Where I was able to hook up with a newly established holster maker who made me this holster for my BM...(pic below)... There are a number of aspiring leatherworkers on that Forum, as well as quite a few established holster makers... ...Worth browsing...Some interesting designs and executions... ![]()

I bought this holster back in the 70's/80's, after viewing an article in one of those paperbound gun books that are on any gunshop rack...the maker used his initials [JGA] as his holster names...Years later, I tried to order another, but the makers' son wrote back to me that his father (JGA) had died and the rights to that particular holster sold to a large holster manufacturer...
I lost the letter years ago, and have not seen this pattern of holster since...I don't know if it's because I live in a closet and don't get out much, or the mfg decided to buy the rights to kill the competition with their model... This is for a Colt Commander; I buy Commander holsters for my Gov't Model/Gold Cups because I like the way the bottom 3/4" of the slide sticks out of the Commander holster... ![]()

Got my left hand holster from Eric at US Gunleather. It's the same style/size as my right hand holster. They both hold a Star BM and/or a Tokerev TT-33/M57...or any Colt/1911 clone...
I have both R&L due to a condition which required surgery on my right hand...and although I have regained about 90% mobility in that hand, I am told the condition will likely re-occur... So I'm practicing shooting left handed now...Curiously, several of my pistols group to the center of the target now, instead of to the side... ![]() The pistols aren't too bad...But the Enfield bolt action rifle is a real challenge to shoot left handed...(If you watched the US sniper in "Saving Private Ryan", that's exactly what I'm doing now...) Anyway, the holsters are high ride, and made to fit a 1911 with a 3" barrel...I like the slide to stick out the bottom... ![]()
