Default Matching mag. value

This has been discussed before but what value do you place on matching mags? Blue Book says 50% one mag and 75-100% on two matching mags. Jan's early price quides says 10% for one and 20% for two. I know many collectors do not care as long as mag is correct. Also there has been so many force matched that some are real leary. Would be interesting to hear your opinions. Bill

Add 50 % for 1 MM;100 % for 2 MM.

That sounds like a lot, but I know how rare they are.
I'm from the days when it did not matter.
I have seen a lot of doctored examples.
Even folks selling pistols without mags.
I think matched mags are so unusual they are outside general rules.
I'm sure some would pay a premium for them.
Just about any luger or related item needs a keen inspection these days.

Hi Bill, There is no simple answer to this question. Matching mags are harder to find with Imperial, than with Third Reich Lugers, Imperial Navies are even scarcer and Police more common. Also, as you point out, many mags are faked, and I, for one, would pay more for a Navy with a non-matching, but authentic, magazine, than for one with a questionable matching mag, or one of those "unnumbered armorer's replacements", that are showing up nowadays.
So, it's probably only useful when discussing Third Reich Lugers, in which case, I figure one matching at +25%, and two at +100%.
Regards, Norm

Hi Norm,
Great response.Over the years I have seen the value of matching mags increase and I think the increase will continue.I will forecast 75% for 1 MM and 150 % in the future.

To me, Everything depends on the type and condition IMHO - one that is in 98% condition, yes, value goes up a lot.

A nice imperial or nazi army I would expect $200-$300 for a single matching, I do expect the value to go way up for a double matching mag, perhaps 50-60% and even more for a navy.

That is what I have seen, as I have NOT seen folks offering to PAY 100% more.

Police rigs are found much more common with matching mags, I would say $200 for a single matching magazine and $300-$400 for two matching mags.
