Wooden bottom magazine

I just purchased a very nice magazine with a wooden bottom. It has a serial number on it along with a 2, signifying that it is the second item. Which years is it proper for mags to have wooden bottoms with serial numbers? So far I've found 1915 & 1917 artilleries stated as such. Also, I would say the mag is constructed of aluminum is that proper?

Jack, No magazine was made of aluminum. Take a magnet to it..It's steel.

All military mags will have serial numbers.

The 2 signify's a Police extra magazine.

You are so right, once again.

I just went on first glance - right out of the box. It is quite good looking and of no tarnish, I just thought: aluminum.

I have some other steel ones with wooden bottoms - they most all show tarnish.

If looking like aluminum instead of bright nickle, then that would be 1927-1929 IMHO, but if with wood base, usually nickle.
