Baby Luger Photo Question...

There is a photo of Geo. Luger's baby luger in the "Unsorted Photos" section of the Forum.

I noticed it has a traditional thumb safety.

Didn't the original baby lugers made have the Borschardt-type of thumb safety ? (See Walter's, The Luger Story, on page 179.)

Were other baby lugers made during the Imperial and Weimar eras ?

Pete, I took that picture at Ralph Shattuck's place. HE calls it a baby Luger, but Charles Kenyon calls it a Seven Shot Prototype. This was Georg Luger's personal gun and was a stanard model with a shortened barrel and butt to hold only 7 rounds, using a full size frame. This is a DIFFERENT small Luger from the other BABIES, that were chambered in 32 or 380 ACP, only 4 made. These smaller caliber Lugers were also in small in all dimensions including the frame. These smaller Lugers do use the slider safety lever that blocks the sear. These are also the Lugers that are being produced by Krauswerk (sp) in California. So, in summary, there were two types of BABIES, one with a full size frame (except the butt) and another one, the much smaller Luger. Ralph has the original Georg Luger baby and one of the 4 other babies. ~Thor~

Do you know how this Krauswerk can be contacted? Also do you recommend their product? What do they charge? Any other info. I just got the "baby" from Martz, but still have the itch. Finally, at one time you posted a picture of a baby holster, where can I get one, if anywhere? Thanks

Mike Krause's .45 Luger costs $15,000. I think his Baby Luger goes for $12,500. Mike told me the other day that he can also be reached at kwerkmfg@pacbell.net.
