Default Artillery Luger Frozen in Time?

Say, what have we here? From the WWI underground bunker just found in France.

Since it was uncovered from a mud filled WWI trench one might say "mired" in time.

By the looks of that leather, that there "mire" ought to be patented as a leather preservative.

I suppose the gun itself must be about like the rifles elsewhere in the article - am I right that there would have been a wooden stock behind this rig? Does not look exactly like the current Chi-Com repros that I have seen, but I am not very knowing on such matters.

I appears that most of the rig/wooden stock is there, as the attaching leather that screwed into the stock is clearly visible.

I think it is a complete rig, with the exception perhaps, of the spare ammo pouches.

I too wondered what the pistol inside must look like today.

It would be funny if that holster turned out to be a Pakistani re-pop.

They did find the remains of a goat in that dug-out, so anything is possible

I find stitching on that photo amazingly intact and perfect.
