Default New DWM

I picked up a DWM 9mm Luger at a gun show this weekend. Pictures comming as soon as I get it from the dealer. There is a 48 hour waiting period??!!

It has 1920 over the chamber. I assume this is a property Mark. Serial #1508 n. It is all matching except for the Side Plate. I am not sure about the grips and the mag is a blued wood bottom with no markings but it is a period mag.

It was reblued but all corners and edges are still very sharp so it was a good reblue job. It has a sear safety and is unit marked. I assume a police unit. I will follow up with that when I get it in my hands.

All parts that should be strawed are blued also. Can I have comments about weather you would strip the blue and re straw the parts or leave it alone.

Also if I were able to find an 08 side plate would I be better to leave the sear safety or remove it.

Any idea when it was made?

By the way I paid $495 so I think I did okay.

For that money I would not mess with the gun. If it indeed is a police re issue, as it appears to be from your description, then the sear safety and most likely the reblue are part of its history and should be left intact.
Nice find for the money!

Great price! Re-blues without buffing are OK in my book, especially police refurbs.

Are there any 'X' marks through any of the serial numbered parts??? And numbers/letters on the grip straps???

There are no Xed out areas on the gun.

There is a Unit Mark on the front strap. I don't remember what it is but will post a picture when I get it from the Dealer. Wednesday now.

?????

Just because its a police does not make it a reblue? That is a very common misconception?

If the mag safety was welded in, then that part would be reblued, sometimes all of it.

But many, many police were never reblued.

The Mag safety has been welded over. It has the round hole under the side plate but no cut in the frame.

If signs of a reblue, how do you mean?

The welding would / could cause a reblue, also not.

if parts are blued that shouldn't be, that would not be a factory or armory reblue (which I would call an arsenal rework rather than reblue)

Default Neew DWM

It has been reblued as all the stampings and marks are without halo's. As I stated earlier however it is a real good job.

The acceptance stamps on the right side are faint but still visible.

Understand, but what I meant was trigger, etc reblued, so I must have misunderstood above.

Likely as you guys originally said, just was putting some police information that I know out there.
