this is some old actor named John Garfield, who's showing his wife some goodies he brought back from what I guess was a USO tour of North Africa and Italy......note the MP40...I guess fame has its benefits!

If this is a World War II era photo, his "bring back" has more to do with what was then allowed and his fame may have to do with the number and quality of his collection. My Uncle, of no fame, brought back more including three fully automatic weapons.

Is that a German hand grenade that he is holding?

It would be interesting to know what happened to these souveniers... John Garfield has been deceased for quite some time.

They could also be props from one of his movies... He was a great actor in his day...
