Default Did I miss out and should be kicking myself?

I was high bidder on this until the last moment, seeing how the owner really did not know what he was selling, though externally, all of the numbers match, we do not know internally, My thinking was I would bid it as a high end "Shooter" and if it turns out to be a collector... it would be just gravey...

Should I be kicking myself or was it not meant to be...

Also, is that an Orig Mag or aftermarket seen in the pics.. forgive the noob question

It's a DWM 1916

Well, the grips are certainly not "right as rain" to use the seller's terminology, nor is the magazine bottom, which is a modern replacement.

I was, however amused at the seller's flare for descriptive terminology;

"The 1916 Erfurt Imperial Acceptance stamp with the cross of peace and the bar of justice is found on the right frame"

My $.02...It's a good/excellent price for an Erfurt (but it's not an Erfurt); only fair for a DWM; his shipping price is outstanding...$8 to ship???...Wow...

You were right to pass it by...

If he can't tell an Erfurt from a DWM then he can't be depended on for anything else...

The grips were made with slow bake brownie mix. You didn't miss out, it's worth about what the winning price was.

"The 1916 Erfurt Imperial Acceptance stamp with the cross of peace and the bar of justice is found on the right frame"

What the hell is that??

It can't be a matching pistol for at least 2 reasons...The slow bake brownie mix grips are probably not numbered to the pistol and the sideplate looks like a newer than the pistol part and has no visable number.

IMO it's at best a $600 shooter with either a Swiss mag or a goobered up commercial.

As the fellows so correctly state in the above posts...You were right to pass on it.

The barrel also seems to have a miss-matched finish.
