'The Parabellum Is Back - deliveries delayed'
Well, good news and bad news for our European clients.
The books for the European market finally arrived at Rotterdam Harbour on sunday the 12th of December, with a whopping 10-day delay. Thanks to the 'good quality' of the shipping company we are now one week further and there is still no sign of a final delivery. All in all, the delivery has been delayed by 14 days now and although a delivery is scheduled for today, the 17th of December, there is still no sign of a delivery truck. So I don't expect to see the books here today, which will mean that they probably will not arrive before the 20th. Morale of the story: If you want it quick, don't use Samskip as a shipping company. |

Follow up.
According to a news article on the website of the Dutch Lloyd Group, it appears that the delays in Rotterdam Port are starting to worry other shipping companies as well. Complaints about malfunctions on Rotterdam Port terminals. The Dutch Alliance of Sea Container Transporters (AZV), part of TLN, is worried about the continuing problems on the container terminals and depots of the port of Rotterdam. Container shippers are plagued by a cascading set of problems, consisting of disturbances and delays on terminals. They complain about malfunctions in customs systems, closed road blocks, the winter conditions, malfunctioning cranes and lifting equipment, peak traffic in depots and even complete loss of electrical power. Because of these problems unforeseen delays exist, connecting trips are missed or scheduled trips are moved to other days. Also drivers get into problems because of the difficulty to comply with the driving and resting times. |

Not in Europe, at least.
I hope that the shipment to the US had more luck. But you will get the best new book of 2011 |

And if you are not on the pre-order list and you live in the U.S., how do you go about getting one of the books? Is Simpson Ltd. handling the orders?
