Tried to visit Tom Armstrong, through a comedy of errors it did not work out. On the way back I stopped by the National Rifle Association Firearms Museum; it is pretty good.
The museum has a lot of guns that we like, most information is basic, will give what I saw or you could look up there. Many were just angled enough that the light did not hit it correctly for me to see serial numbers. DWM 1902 carbine, very nice shape, except the front grip strap was very worn? (donated by Edward Holba) That was the only one I wrote that information down. DWM commercial; they said it was sn 5586 and was from WW1 era, I was not so sure. Swiss Bern, sn 17543 1914 Erfurt artillery, has a side inscription on the left that has the Germans name, rank and regiment engraved DWM Navy (looked too nice to me, but might just be a mint piece) DWM 1918 artillery DWM 1917 artillery with red nine grips Borchardt, said the serial n umber was 75837 (Ron, that number seems too high to me?) In a large show case they had a diorama with 3 US soldiers, had a bunch of captured equipment, lots of lugers and P38’s; following was the brief description you could read in their computer Artillery sn 9639 Mauser 8015 DWM 4747 WW1 era (no yr mentioned) with a 1920 property stamping and unit marking of JR 12.9 P38 byf 42 sn 9638 Byf 41 1936 Krieghoff Baby nambu’s 3877 and a reblued one that was in the movie Letters to Iwo Jima sn 3011 FN model 1900; factory engraved with mother of pearl grips, owned by Teddy Roosevelt PP sn 368980 PPK sn 213936k (PP or PPK) Pistol was confiscated from a member of a Nazi saboteur who landed from several (?) U-boats in a couple of teams (2 teams I think)
